Your recovery program is guided by our Treehouse Medical Director, a physician who has met vigorous standards to become certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM). Here you’ll gain the expertise of an entire multi-disciplinary team – including licensed clinical therapists, a full-time nurse practitioner, substance abuse counselors, recreational therapists and experts in mindfulness – all working in unison to deliver effective, integrated care.
Amid the serenity of our Treehouse campus, we provide a full range of treatment modalities and best practices for addiction recovery:
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – is the cornerstone of our group therapy program at The Treehouse. A proven psychotherapy treatment, DBT has been shown in multiple scientific studies to reduce substance use in people with complex mental health issues. DBT teaches clients how to manage disturbing emotions, remain calm and mindful, and adopt effective interpersonal skills to solve problems in their lives.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – helps our clients cope with strong cravings and learn to correct faulty, negative thinking – also known as cognitive distortions. CBT is well-established as an effective, research-based intervention for drug and alcohol addiction. According to multiple studies, the effects of CBT are durable, enabling clients to reap the benefits long after they complete treatment.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) – is a non-confrontational, goal-oriented intervention that helps clients overcome ambivalence to change. Since it was first introduced in the 1980s, more than 200 clinical trials have generally supported the effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing. This counseling approach invites clients to examine the benefits of change and call on their innate abilities and resources to achieve recovery.
Medication-Assisted Therapies – support a safe and comfortable detoxification during the acute phase of treatment. Our clients report feeling at ease during detox and are able to progress through their recovery with assistance from medications such as buprenorphine (Suboxone) that reduce drug cravings and withdrawal symptoms from strong opiates. If a client requires a medical detox treatment, our caring medical practitioners will monitor his or her physical and emotional state 24/7, to improve their comfort and ease any anxieties. A medication-assisted detox is also provided for individuals suffering from alcoholism. Once the detox process is complete, we then turn our focus towards the underlying issues of the addiction.
Mindfulness & Stress Management Practices – include meditation, yoga and Tai Chi classes five days a week at The Treehouse. Since chronic stress often fuels substance use, you will learn how to incorporate these calming techniques into your daily routine. A growing body of research supports the effectiveness of mindfulness practices for stress management and relapse prevention.
At The Treehouse, you can also de-stress your mind and body with martial arts classes and abundant nature activities. To improve your physical fitness, our campus exercise room is equipped with free weights, cables and cardiovascular equipment.
Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders – addresses your unique mental and physical health needs. Any illness that co-occurs with addiction is included as part of your treatment plan at The Treehouse. This may include help for depression, trauma, dual addictions, co-dependency or other complex conditions. Our clinicians have expertise in dual diagnosis and specialty training in areas such as trauma. We will create a tailored, cohesive treatment plan that covers all aspects of your health.
Recreational, Art & Adventure Therapies – is a hallmark of our program at The Treehouse. We understand that having a strong support network increases the chances of long-term recovery. At The Treehouse, we invite loved ones to participate – with client permission – in family education and counseling programs. If a particular family member can enhance a client’s recovery, we will strive to accommodate that person and provide family support therapy.
